INFORMATION CONCERNING THE UROLOGY RESIDENCY PROGRAMIn accordance with the requirements of the American Board of Urology, the University of Illinois College of Medicine offers a six year urology residency program. The structure of the program includes one and one half years in surgery with rotations that complement urologic training, and three and one half years in clinical urologic training. In addition, the residency includes one full year of basic science research. Our program utilizes three major and diverse hospitals for resident education. Both in general surgery and urology, residents rotate through the University of Illinois Hospital, Jesse Brown Veterans' Administration Hospital and Christ Community Hospital. Proximity of these hospitals allows for complete integration of all conferences, lectures, and teaching sessions. We believe that our system offers each resident the broadest urological training experience presently available at any urological residency training program, and fully prepares residents for academic or clinical careers. We offer two positions at the PG1 level. Interested individuals must apply to our residency via ERAS. In addition, applicants must register with the AUA Match Program and the NRMP for the preliminary surgery PG1 position. An application is considered complete once we have received at least three letters of recommendation supporting the application for a UROLOGY residency, medical school transcripts with Dean's letter, Step 1 scores for the USMLE, personal statement, photo of applicant and CV. ERAS common application forms that do not include a picture of the applicant will be considered incomplete. Deadline for completed applications is OCTOBER 1. Interviews are generally held in November and/or December. You will be notified via e-mail if you have been selected to interview. If you are not selected for an interview, you will not be notified. |
