Known Donor Banking ProgramThe University Andrology Laboratory offers this program to patients who are interested in using a Known or Directed Donor, such as a brother-in-law, a close friend or other for assisted reproductive procedures. Screening: All potential Known or Directed Donors must be found to be suitable candidates to enter this program. They should be tested as rigorously as anonymous donors. The screening process should include testing for infectious diseases and a semen analysis. Tests for infectious diseases includes:
This testing must be completed with 7 days prior to or after the first donation. This testing cannot be omitted or waived. This is a requirement of the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). The six month quarantine and the retesting requirements no longer apply per new FDA regulations as of 05/25/2004. Please check with the physician who is performing the inseminations regarding the pre-testing and quarantine of the vials. Please Keep in Mind..... Our Patient Banking Program is responsible for the processing, storage and distribution of semen from Known or Directed Donors. We are not responsible for all the phases of testing.
