Lecturer in Cell and Developmental Biology
Division of Medical Sciences
College of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing
Centre for Oncology & Molecular Medicine
(£36,532 - £43,622 per annum)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative scientist to join
a newly established research team in reproductive medicine based in
Ninewells Hospital and Medical School. The research team incorporates
the NHS Tayside assisted conception unit which is initiating a £5
million build to establish state of the art facilitates. Strong
applications from those with a background in any area of
developmental/cell biology are encouraged who wish to either integrate
with our existing research or initiate a complementary programme
involving germ (stem) cells, gametes or embryos. The UK legislative and
regulatory environment provides an excellent framework for human embryo
research and you would be encouraged to utilise this opportunity.
This position is for a highly motivated scientist with a promising
early publication track record and the potential to attract independent
external funding to develop within a world-class environment for both
basic and translational research, with the aim of establishing and
leading an independent and productive research group. There are
outstanding opportunities for collaboration with established groups
within the University including the Biomedical Research Institute (BRI),
epidemiology/health informatics, clinical genetics, genetic
epidemiology, molecular medicine and the world-acclaimed College of Life
Sciences.
The University recorded scores at the 4* level (defined as 'world
leading') in every subject area submitted to the RAE 2008. 8 of Dundee's
submissions were ranked in the top 20 in the UK in their respective
fields.
