Androlog Mail:
Regarding temporary nature of Testsimplets: I used to gently peel the
coverslip off and then permanently mount. However you could also consider
using Sangodiff G from Merck (cat no 15332). These are prestained
coverslips rather than slides and thus are less expensive. These can also
be permanently mounted by removal of the coverslip. I found removal of
these coverslips easier than Testsimplets. The other option of course if to
keep a duplicate dry smear should you ever need to return to that sample.
This brings me to another point. Why are we keeping morphology slides for
extended periods? This presumes we would want to re-analyse that sample .
If it is for research OK, but if for general clinical diagnosis then a
repeat sample even 3-4 months later is surely more preferable than repeating
the previous. So, do we only keep morphology slides in case a referring
doctor disputes the results? If so why should we repeat the analysis? Do we
not have enough faith in our original estimate to stand by it? If we believe
it may be because of the potential for sample mix-up then the original
process of analysis is flawed and that should be fixed.
Hope this stirs some comment!!
Merry Xmas to all I have enjoyed androlog this year.
