Androlog Mail:

Dear Andrologists,
Dr Ruth Weissenberg of the Unit of Andrology at the Sheba Medical
Center, Tel HaShomer, Israel would like a response to the following:
Our unit is running a semen bank. A preliminary screening for HIV
antibodies is routinely performed on donors before semen samples are
collected. The donors are tested again after 6 months for HIV. As it
happens, donors occasionally could not be reached for the 6 month
screening, hence we would like to lean upon your experience regarding HIV
detection in semen by Elisa or PCR. Likewise -- would it be correct to
perform the test on semen samples as suggested for blood?
I will forward all responses to this query to Dr Weissenberg.
Responses can be sent through Androlog or to me directly at my email
address: lewinl@post.tau.ac.il
        Thank you for your cooperation.
                   Yours truly,
                    Larry Lewin
