Concerning Dr. Jay Sandlow's inquiry about testes prostheses, there is a
national, FDA approved study about to begin in the US in which new Mentor
saline filled (silicon shelled) testis prostheses will be implanted in
appropriate patients (both adult and pediatric) under rigorous protocol at
15 centers. This study is a constructive and long awaited response to the
breast implant scare that resulted in testis prostheses also being pulled
from the market. I am very interested in this is because I am the National
Medical Advisor for the study. The new Mentor prostheses are not generally
available at this point, but I foresee them on the market within a couple
