A quick surf of the internet has confirmed that Propecia is finesteride
which is a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor found to cause hair regrowth as a
side effect when given for prostatic enlargement. It is a lower dose than
Proscar which is used in BPH (1mg rather than 5mg) but exposure in
pregnancy to sufficient levels could result in hypospadias. This was seen
in rats and has a theoretical basis.
